Over the last little while, one of the most rewarding experiences in my career has been working alongside the incredible team at Costume Creators. What started as a connection through music and carnival culture quickly turned into something much deeper — a family environment built on mentorship, creativity, teamwork, and opportunity.
A huge part of that experience has been learning from Wayne, the owner of Costume Creators. Wayne has created far more than just a Mas Band. He has built a movement and a space where young talent can grow, develop confidence, and contribute to something bigger than themselves. Watching how he leads the camp, supports the team, and continuously pushes the culture forward has been inspiring for me both as an artist and as a businessman.
One of the most exciting parts of this journey has been working with the models and creatives connected to the camp. The energy they bring is unmatched. Whether it’s preparing content, promoting events, rehearsing performances, or simply creating moments together, there’s a real sense of unity and excitement that surrounds the entire Costume Creators family.
That chemistry naturally spilled into the music.
Working with YannaaBaiibee on our song “Push It” brought together the worlds of carnival, Bouyon, Dancehall, and performance culture in a way that felt authentic and exciting. The response to the record has been strong because people can feel the real energy behind it. The same thing happened with “Jamming with Jam Jam,” a track inspired by another one of the vibrant personalities from the camp. That song captures the fun, humour, movement, and spirit that makes the Costume Creators experience so unique.
Performing at the Costume Creators Band Launch was another major moment for me. Seeing the crowd react to the music, the models showcasing the costumes, the DJs controlling the energy, and the entire camp moving as one reminded me why carnival culture is so powerful. It’s not just about costumes or music — it’s about community, freedom, and expression.
Now the focus shifts toward the road ahead.
The team is currently preparing for Junior Carnival on July 18th, followed by the Toronto Caribbean Carnival on August 1st, 2026. The anticipation is already building, and everyone involved is working hard to make this season unforgettable.
The music side of the movement is also growing in a major way. My little brother, DJ Black Ent, will be playing on the truck with us this year alongside DJ Stella, both bringing heavy Bouyon energy to the road. Combined with the incredible Costume Creators DJ lineup — DJ Kwam, DJ Brainboy, Selecta AK, Joshyio, DJ Mauri, DJ Bxnny, and several others — the soundtrack for this carnival season is shaping up to be something special.
What stands out most to me through all of this is the youth movement that Wayne and the Costume Creators team continue to build. Between the DJs, artists, models, designers, photographers, videographers, and organizers, there is a veritable team of young talent all contributing to the experience. Everyone plays a role. Everyone adds energy. Everyone helps build the family atmosphere that Costume Creators has become known for.
For me personally, this experience has been bigger than performances and music releases. It has been about relationships, mentorship, culture, and building moments that people will remember long after carnival season is over.
And honestly… we’re just getting started.
